All parties in a LOWI procedure have a duty of confidentiality.
This duty of confidentiality applies to all information
(a) that was available to the Board and the Committee (on Research Integrity) (CWI in Dutch) in the complaints procedure, and (b) that will become available during the LOWI procedure until the Board issues its final Ruling.
If the duty of confidentiality is violated, the LOWI will be entitled to draw its own conclusions and may take measures, including halting the LOWI procedure.
Once the Board has issued its final Ruling, Parties must (continue to) show restraint so as not to damage the reputation of the original Defendant. This is all the more important in cases where the complaint about the alleged violation of research integrity is unfounded.
